I'm wireless!

After an all day trial and error fix by John at Computers R Us USA on West Shore Road, I'm finally hooked up properly to the Netgear router. I might be wrong, but I don't think he really knew what he did to get it set up, but for 25 bucks, I'm not complaining. It works.
Tomorrow I'm off to Dr. Behar. I'll have to tell Jeanne Anne that I won't be able to have lunch if the tv is going to be delivered. I hope this delivery goes more smoothly than I anticipate.

More food

Another entry basically about food....going to Newport today to have lunch with Steve Bianci. Don't know where, but I do know when...about 11:30. It's a quiet morning here at the traffic command center and on the roads as well.

Charley

I just talked to my mother and sister in Cocoa, FL. Mom went to stay with Jo-Ann for the night. Hurricane Charley slammed into the southwest coast of Florida near Ft. Myers and is heading toward Orlando as I write this. We'll get the remnants of Bonnie tonight and the remnants of Charley on Sunday. Tomorrow's weather should be good; I'm going to a wedding reenactment (I guess that's what you'd call it) at Chello's here in Warwick with Joanie P. then maybe swing by Bruce's. I just realized I left the directions to Bruce's at work. Probably won't be going there. I should have gone to Newport tonight, but I didn't feel like sitting in the rain to see Harry Connick. Besides, Stargate is on!!!

It's only Wednesday

I'm doing reports for Swing FM as well as WSAR and Channel 12 afternoons; it's still not nearly enough.
Just checking the weather....at least one of the tropical storms looks like it will roll through my house in Florida, then make a beeline for the house in RI. It should be an interesting few days. I'm not going to Newport Friday night if the weather is bad; a little rain is one thing, but to sit outside for a Harry Connick concert in a real storm isn't going to happen.

The party! August 7, 2004 Posted by Hello

The party's over

I finally had some friends over to the house for a party on Saturday. I had a great time; I hope everyone else did too. Lots of food and drink left over, of course. I'll bring some of it into work. Now I have to find all the stuff like bills that I shoved into bags and into closets. The house does look pretty good right now; I'd love to have people over again next week while it's in good condition, but I'm going to Harry Connick Friday night, and to a party on Saturday.

Different people to annoy

A whole new audience this week. I'm filling in afternoons on WPRO AM, and today I began mornings on WCTK, Cat Country 98.1. It's a huge difference from the days when I reported for 18 stations, but it's a pretty good schedule right now....a little empty, but I can deal with that. I begin SWING FM afternoons next Monday.

Back from the mountains

As usual, my trip to NH had a lot to do with food. Went to the Toasted Lab, David's restaurant, for a delicious rack of lamb on Friday, Caesar salad on Saturday. Great eggs benedict Saturday morning at Guldie's, and a so-so burger at Dairy Queen Saturday night. I remebered those burgers being a lot better.
It was great to see David, and, as a bonus, Chuck, Joannie, Zoe and Lilly, and Jimmy Gray. Lisa is a great bartender, too! Jimmy and I went up the road to the Irish pub (Shannon Door, I think) Saturday night.
Other things of interest for the two or three people reading this....
I travelled up to the summit of Mt. Washington. Cloudy and drizzling at the top, 45 mph winds, but an awesome experience. I wasn't all that comfortable going up and coming back down in the van, but I'm glad I did it. A narrow road, no guardrail, and a driver who talked with her hands.
I took quite a few pictures on the way down...it gave me something to concentrate on.
I also got to see Spider-Man 2 at the mall in North Conway. Great picture. The mall makes the RI mall look awesome. But the factory outlets, I guess, have taken the business.
I came back through Boston; it was a little slow on the lower deck, but well worth the delay. I got to check out the new bridge and the Fleet Center in detail.
Back to work tomorrow, and I get to fill in on WPRO AM afternoons this week.
